Appreciation galore for boxing champions in Manipur

Imphal, Nov 25 (UNI) Manipur Governor Dr S S Sidhu said here today that the state government would honour MC Mary Kom and L Sarita Devi for winning Gold medals in the fourth World Women's Boxing Championship held in New Delhi.

Dr S S Sidhu today congratulated Mary Kom, the first woman boxer, who won the World title for the third consecutive time and Sarita for winning gold medals in their respective weight categories.

The Governor said, ''Their outstanding performance have made us proud. Their endeavours must be supported by all concerned, including the state government.'' The two gold medalists have been serving the Manipur police department as Sub-Inspectors. Parashar DGP and others in the police force also congratulated them.

Kom Literature Committee , Nationalist Congress Party, AISF, United National Liberation Front, among others, congratulated them on their victory.
