9 murder accused sentenced to life in prison

Gorakhpur, Nov 25 (UNI) A court today slapped life imprisonment on nine persons in a murder case of Gorakhpur district in Uttar Pradesh.

According to the prosecution, on July 14, 2000, Ram Pravesh Shahi and his family was attacked with 'lathis' by Ram Narayan Yadav, Rajesh Yadav, Ramayan Yadav, Jai Narayan Yadav, Umesh Yadav, Arvind Shahi, Amarjeet Yadav, Akshayvar Yadav and Gorakh Yadav over an old dispute.

Pravesh's brother Ram Singhasan, nephew Sanjay and Ravindra died on the spot. An FIR was lodged against all the accused.

On the basis of evidence and testimony, additional district and sessions court judge S K Vishwakarma pronounced life terms to all the nine accused, besides a penalty of Rs 3,000 each.
