54th Buddha Mahotsav starts

Raisen, MP, Nov 25 (UNI) Sri Lankan Urban Development and Water Supply Minister Dinesh Gunawardena today inaugurated the 54th 'Buddha Mahotsav' at world-famous tourist spot Sanchi.

On the occasion, Mr Gunawardena announced that following the directions of Sri Lanka, a choultry will be built here at a cost of Sri Lanka Rupee 20 crore.

The Sri Lankan Minister also performed 'Bhoomi poojan' for the choultry.

Madhya Pradesh Culture Minister Lakshmikant Sharma, who was present on the occasion, said the cooperation of Sri Lankan Government will provide a new dimension to the harmonious relations between India and Sri Lanka.

Besides, 2,550th Buddha Jayanti and 54th Dahtu Pooja Mahotsava was being commemorated at the Chapya Giri Bihar temple here.
