3 farmers commit suicide in West Vidarabha
Akola, Nov 25: Three debt-ridden farmers ended their lives in West Vidarbha region, police sources said.
Of the three deaths, two farmers - one from Washim district and another from Buldhana district in West Vidarbha region - killed themselves during the last 48 hours.
Narayan Namdeo Khambalkar (45) of Bibkheda village in Risod tehsil of Washim district committed suicide by hanging from a tree in his field yesterday. Unable to repay loans, Khambalkar took the extreme step, family sources said.
In the second incident, Srikrishna Shaligram Parpat (50) hailing from Kandwi village near Nandura tehsil in Buldana district allegedly consumed poison and ended his life.
Similarly, 53-year-old farmer Rameshwar Jagannath too consumed poison and died on November 23, police added.
The number of suicides by farmers have not abated despite the implementation of the package given by the State and the Central government to aid the farmers.
