Welding expo and seminar at Chennai

Chennai, Nov 24: 'Weld India 2006', India's largest welding expo and seminar, was inauguated here today.

The theme of the three-day expo was 'Advances in Joining Technology for quality and competitiveness'.

The Expo would serve as a platform for exchange of latest information on welding, such as science and technology of friction stir, electron beam and laser welding processes, challenges and advances in heavy facrication and repair welding, weld modelling, welding consumables and equipments.

Major companies from India and abroad were displaying their latest machinery and products associated with the industry.

About 100 papers would be presented during the National Welding Seminar, which would offer an opportunity for close interaction between industry and technology professionals to find newer ways of tackling difficult industrial problems and devising better ways of maximising quality and productivity.

Experts from all sectors of industry, educational institutions and leading research organisation would present papers. A Special Session for engineering students and research scholars was being organised to motivate them to take up welding as a career.
