Two arrested for gambling over India-South Africa match

Surat, Nov 24 (UNI) A gambling racket over the India-South Africa One-dayers, was busted with the arrest of two persons from a flat at Saibaba Society in Pandesara near here.

The duo were arrested when a team of Detection Unit of the Crime Branch yesterday raided the flat and found them accepting bets. TV Sets, Laptops, a computer and mobile phones were recovered, police sources said.

The accused have been identified as Ashok Prahladbhai Patel and Yogesh Dwarakadas Patel.

Their accomplice Ajaybhai Patel is absconding, police said.

Cash of Rs 18,400 was recovered from the spot.

The arrested have been charged under Sections 4 and 5 of the Gambling Act, sources said.
