Chennai, Nov 24: Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today said it was not in the interests of good neighbourly relations with kerala if farmers of traders from Tamil Nadu blocked movement of essential commodities to that state.

In a statement here today, Mr Karunanidhi said the farmers and traders of Tamil Nadu had resorted to road blockades as they were very agitated over the unexpected consequences of and 'shocking actions' with regard to the Mullaperiyar dam issue.

The state government was always committed to continuously work for the Rights of Tamil Nadu, he said, and appealed to all to have faith in this commitment and desist from agitations.

Since yesterday, political activists and farmers in the state-border areas of Coimbatore and Theni have been resorting to blocking road and rail movement, protesting against Kerala's move to send a Naval team to inspect the dam.
