Tight security for Sonia's visit to AP
Tirupati, Nov 24: In view of recent major encounter at Kadapa of Andhra Pradesh, unprecedented security arrangements have been made for the UPA Chairperson and AICC President Sonia Gandhi's three-hour visit to Tirumala and Tirupati from tomorrow.
Security forces have been deployed in the routes from Renigunta airport to Sri Venkateswara University (SVU), Tarakarama stadium where Ms Sonia along with State Governor Rameshwar Thakur, Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh and other senior Congress leaders will participate in 'All India Rachanatmaka Sameelanam' and the 'Silver Jubilee' celebration of Rashtriya Seva Samithi (RASS).
Senior police officials inspected the podium and galleries for VIPs and delegates from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal for programme, besides the media gallery.
Surveillance has been intensified at all the bus and Railway stations, and other public places, including hotels and lodges.
