Saurashtra-Gujarat tie ends in tame draw

Anand, Nov 24 (UNI) The Gujarat-Surashtra match in the U-15 Polly Umrigar Trophy today ended in a draw at the Shastri Ground here after captains of both the teams decided not to go for the mandatory overs.

Resuming at the overnight score of 117, Gujarat managed to add 82 more runs to the total to finish at 199 all out. Opener Prashant Tandel who was 57 not out yesterday, managed to reach 79 hitting of eight fours, while Bhargav Marai scored a quickfire of 43 studded with five boundary hits.

Saurashtra bowler Divesh Chavda was the pick of the lot, capturing six wickets for 53 runs.

At close of the play, Saurashtra made 88 for the loss of three wickets with Abhisekh scoring 25, Sahil 21 and Kiran 13. Harsh 21 and Mandeep Jadeja at three were at the crease.
