Rs 100 cr grant for two K'taka transport corporations
Hubli, Nov 24 (UNI) The Karnataka Government will provide an additional Rs 100 crore each to the North-West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) and North-East Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NEKRTC) for bringing in improvements in both the organisations, Transport Minister N Cheluvarayaswamy said today.
Talking to newspersons here, he said 1,250 new buses would be added to NWKRTC this year, of which 670 buses have been provided.
Both the corporations were running under loss and a proposal to provide them an one time special grant of Rs 100 crore each was before the Finance department.
Mr Cheluvarayaswamy said the special grant could be utilised for purchasing new buses, besides improving profitability of the corporations.
Earlier, the Minister inaugurated a marriage hall constructed by NWKRTC at a cost of Rs 80 lakh.
