Ramen Deka new Asom BJP president

Guwahati, Nov 24 (UNI) Senior BJP leader Ramen Deka was today unanimously elected the new president of Asom party unit.

Mr Deka, believed to enjoy special clout of the party's national leadership, was elected unopposed after party MP Rajen Gohain stepped down from the contest.

Mr Arun Sathe attended the election as the returning officer from the party leadership.

Mr Deka, who assumed power from outgoing president Indramoni Bora, would have a two-year term.
