Pay Commission will soon submit report: Chidambaram

New Delhi, Nov 24 (UNI) Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram today informed the Lok Sabha that the sixth Central Pay Commission, constituted in October, would soon submit its report but did not specify the date.

Referring to queries by several members as to why the Central government employees had been denied ''interim relief'' pending the implementation of the Commission's recommendations, Mr Chidambaram said the interim relief had been included as one of the terms of reference of the panel.

He, however, assured the House that the government would strive to strictly implement non-monetary recommendations of the Commission and also make officials more responsive to the people, and overhaul the working of the bureaucracy.
