Official R-Day function to be held in Kota

Jaipur, Nov 24: The Rajasthan government has decided to hold the state-level Republic Day function in Kota next year, shifting the traditional venue from the capital.

After holding this year's Independence Day (August 15) function in Udaipur the state government has decided to shift the official celebration venues to smaller towns to enable the participation of people in the events.

The state-level functions were earlier traditionally held at the state capital's Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Now the stadium has become the venue for international sports events with the recent ICC Cricket Championships being one of them.

Government officials say the function in Kota would involve local people in a major way and showcase the rich cultural heritage of the specific region.
