National Junior Athletics tomorrow

Bangalore, Nov 24 (UNI) More than 1800 Athletes from 25 States will be seen in action in the five-day 22nd National Junior Athletics Championship to be held in Sree Kanteerava Stadium here from tomorrow.

Last year runners up Tamil Nadu have fielded the highest number of 182 Athletes, while defending Champions Kerala have come with 180 athletes of repute including Tendulaka, Anmay Jose, Senjos, V E Binesh, Bibin Mathew. Hosts Karnataka, which finished sixth has fielded 90 Athletes.

Talking to newsmen here, Karnataka Athletic Association (KAA) Vice President R K Gopalkrishna said that the event would serve as a selection trail for selecting the Indian team for the forthcoming World Youth Championship 2007 to be held at ostrava, Czech Republic and for Commonwealth Youth Games to be held in Pune in 2008.

Events, spread for five days, will be held in 117 disciplines in the age groups of U-20, U-18, U-16, U-14 for both Boys and Girls.
