New Delhi, Nov 23 (UNI) A Consistent performance over the first three days on the 72 holes propelled young Meghna Bal into what looks like an unassailable lead of 15 strokes in the 39th Ladies Northern India Golf Championship here today.

Meghna aggregates three-over 219, six below her handicap of -3, thanks to fine rounds of 74, par 72 and 73.

An out-of-form Vaishavi Sinha could do no better than 83 today with a triple bogey on the par three 5th Hole, going from bunker to bush to bunker; a double bogey and six bogeys.

In third position, sub-junior Laverry Kumar, on 240, a full 21 shots off the lead, will have to really pull up her socks to retain her position as she is just one stroke ahead of Nalini Singh of Army Golf Club, who shared the lead with Meghna the first day. Laverry shot 84, a round to forget, while Nalini shot 85.

Only nine cards broke 80 in the three rounds played so far by this field of 25 contestants, three of them brought in by Meghna, a sad commentary on the golf being played in what is otherwise a wonderful event.

In the Siel Junior girls trophy Mehgna leads the field again with Vaishavi in second spot. Fourteen year old Shreya Ghei is the leader in the Siel Sub-Junior Girls trophy, 17 strokes ahead of ten year old Gurbani Singh.
