Kumaraswamy launches election campaign in Chamundeswari

Mysore, Nov 24 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today launched election campaign in Chamundeswari Assembly constituency, visiting as many as 20 villages and seeking people's support for his party candidate in the bypoll scheduled for December four.

Before visiting the constituency, he offered pooja to Goddess Chamundeswari atop Chamundi hills, accompanied by his brother and Energy Minister H D Revanna and candidate Shivabasappa.

Addressing the villagers, Mr Kumaraswamy refused to give any assurance as the model code of conduct was in place. However, all the projects launched by him for the development of villages would continue and more would be taken up after the bypoll, he said.

He planned to visit 20 villages each day and undertook padayatra in the villages.

Meanwhile, in a press conference here, the JD(S) and BJP jointly released a booklet containing the achievements of the coalition Government during the last ten months. The same would be distributed to all the voters in the constituency.

JD (S) Spokesperson Y S V Datta said joint campaigning would be taken up from tomorrow for the consensus candidate.

BJP Spokesperson Thontadarya said Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa would commence his canvassing tomorrow after opening the BJP election office in the city. However, the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister would take up election campaign from different places to cover all the villages in the constituency.

Mr Datta denied Janata Dal (U) candidate A S Guruswamy's allegation that JD(S) workers had stopped him from taking up electioneering works in some villages.
