Indian signs MoU for joint venture with Snecma
New Delhi, Nov 24 (UNI) In a landmark joint venture India's leading airline Indian and world leader in engine MRO activities Snecma Services today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the setting up of a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility for CFM 56 aircraft engines.
Under the MoU, Indian and Snecma will set up a joint venture company which will address the Indian and regional markets, performing a full spectrum of services with engine disassembly to piece parts and in-house component repairs of the CFM 56-5B and 7B engine types.
The MoU was signed at Indian's corporate office in Delhi by Chairman and Managing Director Vishwapati Trivedi and Mr Jean-Lin Fournereaux, Chairman and CEO of Snecma Services, France representing CFM, the CFM56 engine OEM.
''This is a landmark agreement that will benefit not just Indian but also the aviation industry in India. For Indian it would mean significant savings, better engine turnaround and availability of engines for operations,'' said Mr Trivedi.
Mr Jean-Lin Fournereaux said, ''I am very pleased with this agreement. I look forward to be part of this booming Indian market and to develop a long and fruitful partnership.'' Other advantages for Indian whose order of 43 Airbus family aircraft will all come fitted with CFM 56-5B engines and would include a cost savings with lower engine maintenance costs besides a quicker engine turnaround time and better availability.
