High Court asks Centre to file reply on fertliser scam

Patna, Nov 24 (UNI) Patna High Court today asked the Centre to file its reply within four months if its Rs 5000 crores fertiliser scam by could be investigated by any other agency following CBI's refusal to take up the case.

A division bench of the court comprising Justice Aftab Alam and Justice Rekha Kumari issued the directive during hearing of a public interest litigation filed in this connection.

Earlier, the state government had informed the court that CBI had refused to investigate the irreguralities committed in ensuring supply of fertilisers to the farmers of Bihar during the period 1994-2000.

Counsel of the state government had informed that several people involved in the scam were from other states besides Bihar, so it would not be possible for the state government to get it inquired at its own level.
