HC asks Bihar govt to submit status report on NHs
Patna, Nov 24 (UNI) The Patna High Court has asked the state government to submit a report by December 4 about the steps it had taken for improvement of the condition of the National Highways in Bihar.
A division bench comprising Justice Narain Rai and Justice Ajay Kumar Tripathi passed the order yesterday after hearing a public interest litigation.
Earlier, counsel for the Central government informed the court that a fund of Rs 56 crore had been given to state government for repairing the NHs, but it did not submit the utilisation certificates. Only after receiving the utilisation certificates, the Centre could provide more funds to the state government, he added.
Appearing for the state, Advocate General P K Shahi said the Bihar government was facing shortage of man power for the execution of repairing work of the NHs. He informed that the government would soon initiate the repairing of NHs.
