New Delhi, Nov 24: BJP President Rajnath Singh today expressed his party's concern over the incidents of atrocities against the minuscule Hindu and Sikh minority population in Afghanistan and Kazakhstan and said it was strange that the government is not even registering its protest with these authorities.

In a statement, Mr Singh said a majority of the Sikh population in Afghanistan had migrated to other countries during the repressive Taliban regime, reducing itself to a minuscule minority and the government had not even raised the issue with Afghan President Hamid Karzai when he was in Delhi. The government also did nothing when a Hindu temple was destroyed in Kazakhstan nor when the French government had banned the Sikh students wearing a turban in schools.

This showed the highly insensitive approach of the government towards Hindus where they were in minority, but at the same time it spared no effort to articulate any issue remotely connected with the other minorities. This is 'glaring evidence of duplicity' on government stands on issues concerning Hindu and Sikh minorities and other minorities.

He said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should react through diplomatic interventions when Indian minorities outside India faced difficulties to ensue safety and dignity of the community.
