Govt established systematic governance in Bihar: Nitish
Patna, Nov 24 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today claimed to have established ''systematic governance'' in the state but admitted that maintenance of law and order and communal and social harmony was a major task for him.
Accompanied by his cabinet colleagues and senior officials, Mr Kumar said his government had successfully brought changes in almost all sectors and attracted investments upto Rs 26,000 crores.
He said the law and order situation has improved and criminals were being booked and convicted.
Mr Kumar congratulated his cabinet colleagues for their commitment and lauded their efforts.
He urged the opposition to play constructive role. ''The NDA government had successfully brought the state back on the developmental track,'' he said, adding that his government initiated innovative steps for empowerment of women, improvement of panchayat system and basic infrastructures like road, water, power.
The government had also created employment opportunities, he added.
Mr Kumar admitted that the second year of his rule would be full of challenges as the entire machinery would have to consolidate the work and carry them forward for better results.
Enthused by the investments, Mr Kumar said Bihar Development and Investment Council was being set up under the chairmanship of Chief Minister.
Several prominent personalities like industrialist Sanjiv Goyenka, Bharti Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal, NDTV chief Pranoy Roy, film maker Prakash Jha, among others, would join as members of the council.
Keeping in mind the emotional attachment of non-resident Biharis, the government has set up a Bihar foundation under the chairmanship of the Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi for coordinating with them in the development of the state.
Mr Kumar assured that he would never let down the people of the state who had expressed immense faith in him.
Summarising his achievements, Mr Kumar said apart from establising systematic governance, several rules and regulations were modified and new policies were framed for promoting economic and industrial activities and investments.
