Fourteen shops destroyed in fire at Songadh
Surat, Nov 24 (UNI) Fourteen shops were destroyed in a fire that broke out in the wee hours today at the main market in Sonagadh town, Sonagadh police sources said.
However, there was no casualty, sources said.
Short circuit was cited as the cause of the fire, which broke out around 0200 hrs. The blaze was extinguished by the Gujarat Electricity Board fire fighting engines at around 0500 hrs.
The shops affected due to the fire include a dress material shop, a foot wear shop and a hotel.
According to a preliminary assessment, a loss of Rs 56 lakh has been claimed by the shopkeepers, sources said.
