Five hardcore militants nabbed in Manipur

Imphal, Nov 24 (UNI) Security forces arrested five hardcore militants in Manipur during the past 24 hours, Assam Rifles said today.

On specific information, troops of 32 Assam Rifles and state police apprehended four Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) cadres from different places, a spokesman for Assam Rifles said.

Three of them were arrested from Chingmeirong and the fourth from Laipham Khunou Mayai Leikainear here, he said.

One nine mm pistol and two live 9mm rounds were seized from their possession.

The KCP cadre at Laipham Khunou was shot at his leg while he was trying to escape and was soon rushed to the hospital.

Imphal West Police Superintendent Clay Khongsai said one United National Liberation Front (UNLF) cadre was also arrested.
