Five hard core militants nabbed

DM clamps prohibitory orders in ImphalImphal, Nov 24: 32 Assam Rifles (AR) troops and Imphal West police today said they have arrested five hardcore militants during the past 24 hours.

Based on specific information, the troops and police apprehended four Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) cadres from different places, AR PRO said.

Three of them were apprehended from Chingmeirong and the fourth one from Laipham Khunou Mayai Leikainear here, the PRO said.

Police recovered one nine mm pistol and two live rounds of 9mm were recovered from their possession.

The KCP cadre at Laipham Khunou was shot at his leg while he was trying to escape and was soon rushed to the hospital.

A 9 mm Pistol alongwith three live rounds were recovered from the site of the incident, police said.

The Imphal West Police Superintendent Clay Khongsai said one United National Liberation Front (UNLF) cadre was also arrested.
