New Delhi, Nov 24 (UNI) BJP Delhi Pradesh Incharge Vijay Kumar Malhotra and Pradesh President Harsh Vardhan today demanded that the Centre should provide permanent and honourable relief to the traders affected by sealing and demolitions in the city by passing a law for amnesty during the present Parliament session.

The court was not going to provide permanent relief, only the Parliament could save Delhi from sealing and demolition by framing law. The initiative had to be taken by the Centre, they said in a statement.

Dr Harsh Vardhan said the central government had no other option left with it. It had already announced about implementing the Delhi 2021 Master Plan by January 31 next. But the new Master Plan would not provide permanent and honourable relief to every one.

The only way was that by accepting the recommendations of Prof Malhotra Committee all the concerned should be given amnesty by introducing an Amnesty Bill in Parliament and in future it should be the responsibility of the government machinery to prevent any encroachment or illegal construction and in case of failure government officials should be held responsible and punished, he added.

The central government had constituted a Group of Ministers so that it may provide permanent relief to the people. But the GoM was only assessing the decisions of the monitoring committee and hearings in the court, he further said.

Mewanwhile, over 1,000 members of the Bharatiya Vyapari Congress, under the leadership of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Ram Babu Sharma, today met UPA Chairperson and Congress President Sonia Gandhi at her residence to express their gratitude for getting relief from the sealing drive.
