Court summons Thackeray for provocative article in party mouthpie
Mumbai, Nov 24 (UNI) A local court today issued summons on Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray to appear before the court on February 8 next year in connection with publication of provocative articles in the party mouthpiece 'Saamna'.
However, Metropolitan Magistrate Railway Mobile Court M B Datye exempted Mr Thackeray from appearing in person for a day on health grounds after counsel for Shiv Sena Chief sought time citing health reasons.
The court, while directing the defence to ensure that Mr Thackeray should be present in the court on the next hearing, adjourned the matter till February 8 next year.
The summons came on a petition by NCP leader Munna Tripathi alleging Mr Thackery had made a provocative speech on June 19 at Shamukhananand Hall on the occasion of Party's Anniversary day which might have disturbed the communal harmony.
The speech was also published in the party mouthpiece later.
