Calcutta HC uphelds chargesheet against Adhir in twin murder case

Kolkata, Nov 24 (UNI) Calcutta High Court upheld the chargesheet against a legislator Adhir Chowdhury, served by a district sessions court in the twin murder case.

Justice S P Talukdar confirmed the lower court's move after Mr Chowdhury filed a plea praying an order to set aside the chargesheet.

A district sessions court last month issued the chargesheet against Mr Chowdhury accusing him of the two murders in Berhampur, the headquarters of Murshidabad district in November, 2005.

Mr Chowdhury was arrested and the police issued an arrest warrant against his wife Arpita.

Arpita moved court praying an anticipatory bail whicch the high court granted. Mr Chowdhury was also granted bail after staying a week in jail.
