BJP to move adjournment motion on internal security

New Delhi, Nov 24: The Bharatiya Janata Party has decided to move an adjournment motion on the national security situation in the country in the Lok Sabha on Monday.

Talking to newspersons, BJP Parliamentary Party spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotra expressed the party's concern over the deteriorating security situation in the country. He said during the discussion on the adjourment motion, the party would highlight the UPA government's ''utter failure'' to meet the challenges to the national security from within and outside.

Referring to the statement made by Home Minister Shivraj Patil and IB chief E S L Narasimhan who admitted that there was threat to all important installations in the country, Prof Malhotra said the party was still expecting the Home Minister to take Parliament into confidence on the statement.

He said the IB chief's statement was much more significant as he said there was need for a separate strong legislation to deal with terrorism in the country.

Mr Malhotra regretted that the Government had scrapped the POTA, meant to check terrorists activities for ulterior political reasons.

The other issue on which the party was planning to pin the Government was price rise which had badly hit the common man. He said the Government had completed two and a half year and if mid-term was done, it would be found that its performance had been the most dismal so far.

The Government, in fact, had failed on all fronts be it security, economic or foreign affairs, he claimed.
