Agitation withdrawn in wake of CM's call

Theni, Nov 24 (UNI) The picketing and road block agitation over the Mullaperiyar Dam issue, which began yesterday at Theni, Cumbum and Bodinayakanur by DMK, PMK and Congress workers, was called off today.

The agitation was withdrawn following a call from Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.

The activists had blocked the movement of essential commodities to Kerala, protesting over the government's decision to send a naval team to inspect the dam. Kerala later withdrew the team after protests from Tamil Nadu and Central intervention.
