95-yr-old freedom fighter fasts in jail
Tikamgarh, MP, Nov 24 (UNI) A 95-year-old former freedom fighter hailing from this district, and incarcerated following a land-related dispute, was freed on bail today after he fasted in protest.
''Mr Nathuram Khangar was released following Collector Manish Shrivastav's order,'' said Additional Collector R K Shrivastav.
Sub-Divisional Officer A K Rohatgi ordered Mr Khangar's incarceration on November 20 for encroaching on his neighbour's land in Kari village. The freedom fighter stopped taking food and drinking water and was consequently hospitalised.
''Mr Rohatgi misbehaved with me and flung my identity card at my face. He said, 'Gandhigiri will be unaccepted here' and rejected my bail plea,'' Mr Khangar alleged in a release issued here.
The Collector subsequently attached Mr Rohatgi to the district office.
