41 bands for Hornbill National Rock Contest in Kohima

Kohima, Nov 24 (UNI) The Hornbill National Rock Contest, coinciding with Hornbill festival in Kohima, will begin here from December 2 to 7 here, where 41 bands from all over the country will take part.

Official sources said altogether ten states and one union territory have confirmed their participation in the six-day extravaganza.

About 16 Naga bands would participate followed by Meghalaya with six bands, Asom with five bands, three each from Manipur, Mizoram and New Delhi, one each from Karnataka, Maharastra, Tamilnadu, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh.

Meanwhile, the preparation for the Hornbill festival, the tourism festival of the region, would be a week-long programme from December one, the Statehood Day of Nagaland.

The main function would be inaugurated at the Heritage Village at Kisama on December one, which would showcase tradition and culture of the Nagas of the North Eastern region.
