Wuko Karate Championship gets underway

Visakhapatnam, Nov 23 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Youth and Cultural Principal Secretary J R Anand today inaugurated the first Asia Wuko Continental Open Karate Championship 2006 at Swarnabharathi Indoor Stadium here.

In his address, Mr Anand said it was for the first time such an event was being conducted in the country and promised to seek funds from the Sports Authority of India for such events.

More than 2,000 karate players from various countries, including Brazil, China, Japan and Bangladesh, are participating.
