West Indies Cricket Board gets new CEO
St John's, Antigua, Nov 23 (UNI) Six weeks before the World Cup starts, Barbadian businessman Dr Roland Toppin has been appointed the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).
The post has been vacant since Roger Brathwaite resigned in April.
Dr Toppin is presently the General Manager of Duraplast Inc. in Barbados, a recycling company which manufactures roofing tiles. He is a member of the Barbados Cricket Association and a former First Division cricketer who was invited to Under 19 Youth cricket trials in Barbados at the same time as Desmond Haynes, Wayne Daniel, Alvin Greenidge and Thelson Payne.
Commenting on his appointment, Dr. Toppin said, ''Having followed, with interest, the progress of West Indies cricket from as far as I can remember, I consider it a great honour to have been chosen as CEO of the WICB at this critical time and I will do all in my power to put the policies in place which will ultimately lead to the return of the West Indies cricket team to the top of the world standings.''
