Two sentenced to life for murder

Mumbai, Nov 23 (UNI) A local court here today sentenced two persons to life imprisonment after convicting them of murdering a woman and her son here five years back.

Additional sessions judge W K Kanbarkar also slapped a fine of Rs 20,000 each on Laltu Ashok Ghosh and Prashant Mazi.

According to the prosecution case, the two, who were acquainted with businessman Mrutunjay Ghosh, entered the latter's house in Andheri on December 25, 2001, and strangulated to death Ghosh's wife and three-year-old son.

Cash and ornaments worth over Rs 3.25 lakh were robbed from the house.

There were no witness to the incident. The court convicted the duo on the basis of finger prints and circumstantial evidence.

The court had examined 17 witnesses in the case.
