Three wounded in SP-Cong workers clash
Kanpur, Nov 23 (UNI) At least three people were injured in a clash between activists of the ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Congress in Kanpur today.
A large number of Congress workers had gathered to court arrest.
The SP activists reached the spot and entered in verbal duel with the Congress leaders.
The dispute soon snowballed into a full-fledged clash, in which at least three people were wounded after the rival groups resorted to stone pelting, police said.
Irked over the incident, Congress workers blocked the road near Bada Chauraha, affecting the flow of traffic for some hours.
Police reached the spot and pacified the mob.
Congress city president Mahesh Dixit slammed the state government for ''misusing power.'' He alleged that the police was hand-in-glove with the state govenment.
However, senior SP leader Mahtab Alam refuted the charges, saying the Cangress was unable to bear the development works done by the state government.
Meanwhile, police had been deployed to avoid any fresh violence.
