Varanasi, Nov 23 (UNI) A day after Congress workers damaged and burnt hoardings of ruling Samajwadi Party, the SP workers today retaliated by vandalising Congress banners and hoardings in various parts of the city.

Taking to street this afternoon in small groups, the SP workers tore down and burnt Congress banners and hoardings at Kachahari, Maldahiya and Lahurabir.

While cases have been registered against six Congress workers in connection with yesterday's incident, no action was yet taken against the SP workers, who vandalised Congress banners bearing images of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and AICC president Sonia Gandhi.

Congress workers, on the first day of the statewide 'Jail Bharo Andolan', had at the district headquarters here yesterday burnt hoardings belonging to the SP bearing picture of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav. The Congressmen had also damaged property at the office of district magistrate.
