Sonia concerned about land acquistion
Hyderabad, Nov 23: All India Congress Committee(AICC) General Secretary Digvijay Singh today said Congress President Sonia Gandhi was more concerned about land acquisition in the state for developmental activities and for the welfare of the farmers.
Addressing a press conference here, he said the Congress and the state government were committed for the welfare of the farmers in the state.
He said the market price should be paid for the lands acquired for developmental activities from the farmers and should make them stake holders in the projects.
He said the state Government had taken the right stand in taking back the 450 acres of land from IMG Limited which they got very cheaply from the previous TDP Government.
He said the land should only be utilised for the development of Hyderabad city .
Referring to the proposed 'Outer Ring Road Project', he said it was essential to ease the congestion in the city. The traffic in Hyderabad was increasing rapidly and the outer ring road project would help to solve the traffic problem to some extent.
He said the governmnet would help the farmers who lost their lands due to the implementation of the project.
