Services pile up 249 for 3 against Orissa

Cuttack, Nov 23 (UNI) A brilliant unbeaten century(112) by Yashpal Singh and ably assisted by Sanjai Verma(60 not out) helped Services to post an impressive 249 for 3 at close of play on the first day of Ranji Trophy match against Orissa at the Barbati stadium here today.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first the services team made host Orissa bowlers look helpless.

Test discard Debashis Mohanty who spearheaded the Orissa bowling attack could not trouble the services batsmen. Services Opener P M S Reddy put up 46 runs while S Chhatarjee returned to the pavilion with only 2 runs. Jasvir Singh managed to score only 13 runs.

Mahanty, Pravanjan Mallick and Sourav Sehgal took one wicket each for Orissa.
