Rape victim murdered

Hoshangabad, MP, Nov 23 (UNI) A rape victim has been killed for not changing her statement at Sahalwada village in this district, police said.

Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Samar Verma said a case was pending against Chhote Singh Rajput for sexually assaulting a dalit one-and-half years back.

Chhote had been pressurising the victim to change her statement.

However, as she refused, the accused doused kerosene over her and set her on fire on the night of November 21.

She was admitted to Pipariya hospital in serious condition where she died after giving her dying declaration.

Additional Superintendent of Police J S Jaggi said the case had been transferred to SC/ST police station and Chhote Singh was arrested.

The victim's mother demanded death sentence for the accused, while her father was in a state of shock and not in condition to speak.
