Railways to run spl train for pilgrimate to Parsuram Kund

Itanagar, Nov 23: The railways would run a special train from Siliguri in West Bengal to Tinsukia in Asom for pilgrimage to facilitate the transportation of pilgrims from there to Parsuram Kund mela in Lohit district of Arunachl Pradesh.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Lohit district P S Lokhande here today.

The parasuram mela in Lohit district should not be treated as a religious affair only but as a launching pad to promote and open up vista of tourism potential of the district to outside world, he said adding besides Parasuram Kund mela, Tezu, Walong and Kibithoo will be important tourist circuits considering recent effort of the government to open up border trade with neighbouring countries.

Inviting new suggestions from all corners for improving the mela, Lokhande reiterated that mela has to be organized through various revenue sources without financial grant from the government.
