Punjab crush HP by innings in Umrigar trophy
Patiala, Nov 23 (UNI) Formidable Punjab defeated Himachal Pradesh by an innings and 154 runs in the Polly Umrigar Trophy(Under-15) on the third and final day here at the Dhruv Pandove Cricket Stadium today.
Himachal Pradesh, resuming at their overnight score of 24 for 2, were all out for a paltry 144 runs in their first innings. S Sharma was the highest scorer with 43 but could not save his side from defeat.
Bhavish Goyal wrecked the Himachal innings capturing 6 wickets for 27, while Gurinder Singh took 3 for 35.
The hosts had declared their first innings on 359 for 3 yesterday morning.
Punjab skipper Mandeep Singh enforced the follow on and Himachal were skittled out for just 61 runs in 34.2 overs in their second innings. Gurinder Singh captured 5 for 18 in the Himachal second innings while Goyal took 2 wickets for 14.
Punjab pocketed five points as result of this victory.
