One soldier among two killed, 2 militants arrested in J

Srinagar, Nov 23 (UNI) A soldier was among two people killed while security forces arrested two militants and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition in Jammu and Kashmir overnight.

An official spokesman said a militant surrendered along with one hand grenade and two detonators at Anantnag in south Kashmir last evening.

In aseparate incident, a security man Mohammad Khaleel, resident of Poonch, was shot dead by militants at Kangan late last night. The militants later managed to escape under the cover of darkness, the spokesman added.

Militants also shot at and critically wounded one Shabir Ahmad, son of numberdar at Tarzoo, Sopore, in Baramulla district late last night. He was shifted to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Security forces arrested an upper ground worker of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) at Aloosa Bandipora along with five RPG boosters and two grenadeswhile a hideout was busted at Surankote. One AK assault rifle, one magzine, 19 rounds of ammunition and one pistol was recovered from there last night, the spokesman said.
