National Highway opens for one-way traffic
Jammu, Nov 23 (UNI) The 300-km-long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (1A) was opened for one-way traffic today as the weather was almost clear in Jammu and Kashmir.
The highway, which was closed yesterday due to the landslides at nearly six places en route the summer Capital, was opened for vehicles plying from Jammu to Srinagar, a senior highway official told UNI.
Army convoy will also proceed from Jammu to Srinagar only.
However, the light motor vehicles (LMVs) are allowed to move from either of the two sides.
The normal traffic movement on the NH(1A), the official said, would be resumed tomorrow if the weather remains clear.
The Kashmir valley remained cut off from the rest of the country after the Srinagar-Jammu national highway was closed for traffic due to landslides and shooting stones, triggered by heavy rains.
