Mangalore-Bangalore train service from January
Mangalore, Nov 23 (UNI) The much awaited train service between Mangalore and Bangalore will commence from January next, Southern Railway General Manager Triloknath Patty said today.
Talking to newsmen at Subramanya, after inspecting the new broadguage line, he said that the works have been completed and already goods train service has commenced on the new track.
He said that work on the railway stations on the route and installing signals were progressing and certificate from the Railway Safety Commissioner for introducing passenger train was awaited.
Mr Patty said that about Rs 400 Crore had been spent so far. Two trains between Mangalore and Bangalore via Hassan, Arasikere and Tumkur would be run initially.
