IT officials seize Rs 16 lakh from Airport

Chennai, Nov 23: The officials of the Income Tax Department today seized a sum of Rs 16 lakh from an Industrialist, who flew from Coimbatore by a private airline, at Kamaraj Domestic Airport here.

IT Department sources said acting on a tip-off that the Industrialist Devaraj, who is running a real estate business in and around Coimbatore, was bringing the unaccounted money to Chennai, the officials effected the seizure.

Later, Mr Devaraj was taken to the IT office for further investigation, the sources added.
