HRLN demands separate judiciary
Aizawl, Nov 23 (UNI) Mizoram based Human Rights and Law Network (HRLN) here today criticised the state government's decision to revoke the separation of judiciary from the executive.
In a press release here, the HRLN said the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) government has trampled on the democratic system by revoking a notification, issued earlier, to separate judiciary from the executive.
''It is unfortunate that the state lacks strong political will on the issue, which virtually affects the democracy because the citizen can enjoy true freedom and rights only when legislative, executive and judiciary stands separately,'' the statement said.
However, the state Law Minister H Rammawi said the judicial seperation was not kept in abeyance, the process was delayed only because of some confusion in legal issues.
Meanwhile, HRLN demanding the state government to implement the Employment Exchange (Compulsory Notification of Vacancies) Act 1959 added that government should desist from the current practice of recruiting personnel without going through the employment exchange.
