Haryana bowls out AP for 202 in Ranji opener

Rohtak, Nov 23 (UNI) Joginder Sharma and his pace colleague Sachin Rana shared seven wickets among themselves as hosts Haryana bowled out Andhra Pradesh for 202 and then reached eight for no loss in their Ranji Trophy opener at the Chaudhary Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium here today.

MSK Prasad's decision to bat first clearly backfired and the Andhra captain was first to go for just two. The side would have folded up much earlier had it not been for Alluri Satya Kumar Varma's unbeaten 105.

Apart from that knock, it was a sad, long procession of Andhra batsmen, including Y Venugopal Rao (4), as Joginder (4/54), Rana (3/27) and Sunny Singh (2/24) ran through the order.

Amid the ruins, Varma, however, stood tall and in the end ran out of partners, remaining not out on 105.

His heroic unbeaten knock came off 215 balls and included 11 hits to the fence.

In reply, the hosts were eight for no loss at stumps with Sumit Sharma (0) and Sunny Singh (6) in the crease.
