Govt to table ATR on Minorities Commission report
New Delhi, Nov 23 (UNI) The government today said it would table an Action Taken Report (ATR) in Parliament on the 10th Annual Report of the National Commission for Minorities.
The ATR would talk about the setting up of the investigative agency for NCM and adequate representation of minorities in CRPF and other police forces, Finance Minister P Chidambaram told reporters after a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
The government would constitute an expert committee to suggest measures to improve the functioning of the National Minorities Development Corporation.
On the recommendations of the NCM, the government had allowed carrying of kirpans by Sikh passengers on domestic flights of Indian aircraft. The blade of kirpans should not exceed six inches and the total length would be restricted to nine inches.
