Govt must maintain independent character of UNI-IFJ President
Mumbai, Nov 23 (UNI) The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) today urged the government to take "all possible steps" to stall the sale of a majority stake in UNI to a media house.
Interacting with journalists here, IFJ President Christopher Warren expressed concern over the issue and said his organisation was sending letters in this regard to the government and 'others concerned.' ''Wire agencies througout the world generally function like a trust and serve the society by disseminating free flow of information,'' he said.
''We would be preparing a report on UNI to be discussed among our member organisations spread over 125 countries,'' he added.
