Free electricity to BPL people in Bihar
Lakhisarai, Nov 23 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today announced to provide free electricity connection to people living Below Poverty Line(BPL).
Addressing a public meeting after laying the foundation stone and inaugurating projects worth Rs 236.76 crores, Mr Kumar said electricity connection would be given free to those living BPL but they would have to pay the bill of the electricity they consume. He said the district administration would select the benefeciaries of the Indira Awas Yojana on the basis of the BPL list.
Mr Kumar said his government had initiated several steps to boost agricultural activities and reiterated felicitating the selected farmers with awards in order to promote other farmers.He further said his government had introduced coupon system for providing foodgrains to the BPL families.
